Twitter continues to integrate Periscope more and more into Twitter apps.

Smart move! It makes so much sense with Twitter having many times the registered users compared to Periscope. I wouldn’t be surprised if down the road we can do live Periscope videos directly in the Twitter app.  One of the biggest complains I hear about Periscope is that you have to download yet another app. Who has the space on their phones?

So what’s new with Twitter and Periscope?  I just saw this tonight (Sept. 7, 2016) and Twitter now allows you to turn on notifications for people’s tweets and/ or Scopes in the Twitter app

Doing that for video is new. Up to now you could only turn on all tweet notifications. Depending on how often people tweet that could end up being overwhelming. So whittling notifications down to video only is user-centric.

How and why to mute people on Twitter

You won’t believe how many people visit Twitter profile pages

Here’s how that looks once you go to somebody’s Twitter profile page. Click on the alarm bell to get the option to choose what to get notifications for:

  • All tweets
  • Only tweets with live video

This could be a great improvement and functionality. The more useful options apps like Twitter give its users the better. It’ll be interesting to see if it makes a difference in my viewership for Scopes.
