Content marketing: Telling Meaningful Stories

The-239-BESTThanks to Rachel Burger for including me in her Top 70 list of content marketing Twitter accounts to follow in 2016.

I guess that means I can’t stop tweeting now and have to continue next year. Ha. Not that I would want to stop anyway. Connecting with people on Twitter (and other networks) is super meaningful.

She has me at No. 3 behind the Content Marketing Institute and Gerry Moran – two obvious thought leaders in the field.

follow me on twitterHere’s how she came up with her list (always good to know):

  • Klout score ratio to followers
  •  “Influencer” in their respective fields
  • Spam score below 5%
  • <2% spam followers
  • Follow ratio between 80% and 200%
  • Some other narrowing metrics, like must have a profile pic, must Tweet in English, must be active on Twitter (tweeted within the past 24 hours)
  • Likelihood of following back if someone follows them
  • She then sorted by followers.

I especially like that she looked at spammy content because spam content isn’t very authentic and a bit annoying. Good to see. Also, I appreciate that she looked at the likelihood of following back. Twitter is about engagement. So even “influencers” should be interested in connecting with people – at least some. More than 2 or 200 for sure – especially when they have tens of thousands of followers. I see way too many influencers who hardly follow anyone.

Thanks, Rachel, for including me on this list.

Should conferences allow or encourage attendees to live tweet sessions?

In 2017 the American Diabetes Association held its conference and posted tweets asking attendees to delete tweets that contained photographs from sessions: Eric Topol, the healthcare thought leader, responded with this below, saying it’s 2017: From what I saw on Twitter many attendees did delete the tweet that they were asked to delete.
