Sharing how much weight we’ve lost sounds good, but sometimes there are ways to add additional context.

I was reminded of this while watching part of the finale of “The Biggest Loser” on TV.

Each contestant’s weight loss was reported in pounds and than as a percentage. Here’s how much of their body weight was lost: A quarter, a third, etc.

Wow. Now that adds an additional point of understanding and meaning.

I got out my iPhone and its calculators to figure out my percentage.

At my lowest weight, I had lost 40 percent. Currently, I’m maintaining at around at a 33 percent weight loss.

Wow, I’ve lost a third of my body weight. Context matters. Sometimes we just need to remember to determine the different ways to look at situations.
